International seminar, The 3rd ASEAN Fixed Income Summit : AFIS, the grand annual international seminar organized by Secondary Mortgage Corporation (SMC) for sharing idea and aspect of Capital market, Bond market and Money market in Asia Region.
Miss Unchulee Simasathien, Acting President, Secondary Mortgage Corporation (SMC), a state enterprise governed by the Ministry of Finance said that “SCM has a honor from Asian Secondary Mortgage Market Association: ASMMA to be a host for international seminar, The 3rd ASEAN Fixed Income Summit : AFIS, held at Shangri-La hotel. The objectives are to prepare for promotion ASEAN to be transparent investment target of Bond Market in region within 2020 and to educate knowledge to investor for both in domestic and in foreign country as well as emphasizing role of Asian Secondary Mortgage Market that links between money market and capital market.
Asian Secondary Mortgage Market Association : ASMMA has established in 2014, it is a consequence of Secondary Mortgage Market Asia Forum 2013 seminar hosted by SMC. SCM invited experts from Secondary Market in foreign countries who succeeded in secondary mortgage market transaction and securitization in year 2013. This, therefore, the first integration of Secondary Mortgage Market Asia Organization is begun. Nowadays, ASMMA is consisted of 7 countries i.e. Cagamas Berhad (Malaysia), Japan Housing Finance Agency (Japan), Korea Housing Finance Corporation (South Korea), National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (The Philippines), National Mortgage Corporation MMC (Mongolia), PT Sarana Multigriya Finansial (Persero) (Indonesia) and Secondary Mortgage Corporation (Thailand). The objectives of establishing ASMMA were to develop Secondary Mortgage Market in Asia, knowledge exchange in business transaction in order to coordinately develop economy within country and region.
The 1st AFIS has been organized in year 2014 by Cagamas Berhad and Bank Negara Malaysia - BNM at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and the 2nd AFIS in year 2015 by National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation at Manila, The Philippines and then SCM. in this year. The summit’s objectives were served as a forum for exchange of knowledge on ASEAN bond market, capital market and money market to enhance liquidity and promoted transparent investments targeting ASEAN as the bond investment hub by 2020 under mutual cooperation toward economic stability in the region.
There were many speakers from various Asia countries to share their experience in successful bond market in their countries and give more benefit information for over 500 participants including executives from banks, insurers, financial institutions, regulators, investors, and investment advisory firms, and other relevant agencies across ASEAN.
SCM. has invited expert speakers in Capital Market, Bond Market and Money Market from ASEAN to present and share opinions, aspects and opportunities, and challenges within current world economic. In first session, Mr. Wisudhi Srisuphan - Deputy Minister of Finance had a speech in topic of "World Economic Outlook and Future Investment Landscape: Challenge for Investor Searching for Higher Yield”. Second session topic is "Challenge of Investment Management in Low Rate Environment” by Dr. Pisit Leeahtam – Chairman of Thai Bond Market Association. Third session topic is “Exploring ASEAN Bond Landscape for Best Long-Term Fixed Rate Mortgage (Bond issuer aspects)” by Mr. Chung Chee Leong, Prsident/CEO, Cagamas Berhad and the fourth session topic is “Exploring ASEAN Bond Landscape for Best Long-Term Fixed Rate Mortgage (Investor aspects) by Mr.Shuan Sakhrani , CFA Director, Structure Finance, Debt Capital Markets, HSBC. In this seminar, there are over 500 participants joined including executives from banks, insurers, financial institutions, regulators, investors, and investment advisory firms, and other relevant agencies across ASEAN.”
Moreover, SCM has presented exhibition to share business transaction knowledge of Asian Secondary Mortgage Market Association: ASMMA for introducing and promoting role of SCM, Securitization, linking between money market and capital market in order to build stability in mortgage financial and develop capital market into international level in future.
